Changing Wifi for my Google Home requires me to reset all cameras and devices?

Hi folks, I have a BUNCH of Google Cameras, motion detectors, smoke alarms, and a Doorbell and had to move Wifi vendors. I have read that I have to reset and re-set up every single device again?

The solution of just using the same SSID and password for my new Wifi is a cop-out.

Where is the automation that this should be? I have no idea where some of my QRs are, and I paid a lot of money for each of these devices. There has to be another way, as who would make a system like this, as automation and such should not be so manual, no?

These devices appear to now be expensive Boon Doogles! If this is all manual with QR codes needed and I cannot find them, then I just wasted thousands of dollars for a product that I *thought* would be more intelligent. I am hoping someone here can help with another more intelligent way, like there should be a way to enter some serial number or something and get a new QR code, or something that can help change all the passwords/SSID all at one time. I hope there is a way!

I'm just another Google Nest customer, but what you say is basically true; a factory reset is needed for a new Wi-Fi network.

However, for Google Nest's cameras and doorbells, you can also reinstall using the 6-character alphanumeric setup code (by selecting "Continue without scannng") that is printed on the back or bottom or base of the camera or doorbell--above or below the QR code if the QR code is printed on the camera or doorbell.  For years, we've written down these 6-character alphanumeric setup codes, in case we ever needed them.

Hi cjmanders,

Thanks for posting! I understand that updating Wi-Fi for many Google Nest devices can be complex, and you're looking for the simplest way to reconnect everything.
You're right, the process varies by device. For Nest thermostats, speakers, displays, and older Nest cameras (Nest app-managed), you can often update Wi-Fi directly in the Google Home or Nest app. If a re-setup is needed, you might use a 6-character alphanumeric setup code by selecting "Continue without scanning" (details in the help article Troubleshoot QR code scanning with your phone’s camera).
However, it's important to note that newer Google Nest cameras and doorbells (Google Home app-managed) typically require a factory reset to change Wi-Fi. The procedure means removing, resetting, and then setting them up again. While an alphanumeric code can be used for re-setup, the reset is still part of the process. More info in the help article "Change camera and doorbell Wi-Fi network."
I know updating Wi-Fi for multiple devices can be challenging, and we appreciate you bringing the situation to our attention. Your feedback helps us improve!

Thanks for the response and thoughts! I am a bit disappointed that home automation has not advanced to the point of actually being able to easily change the Wifi across my 'Home' devices. I had somehow assumed when I spent thousands of dollars with Google Home that I would be able to do things like this without so much manual intervention and effort. I would recommend that folks really think about this before making a purchase of these products. I will hope for more advancement, but given that it has been several years since my purchase and I still see the same issues being discussed, I would hold my breath.

Hi cjmanders,

Your feedback about the need for easier automation in scenarios like this is incredibly valuable.

It's completely understandable to feel disappointed that changing Wi-Fi across multiple Nest devices isn't as seamless as you'd expect,
