Content Filters

I recently set up my kids' access to google assistant for the nest minis we have. Since then they have been unable to play "Song Quiz".  The reason given is the content filters. Their filters are set to allow all music, ask all questions, and allow Actions for Families. Is there some other content filter that would prevent "Song Quiz"?

Hi VF1,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community.

This is not the experience that we wanted you to have, let me help you out. What is the exact message that they are getting from your Nest Mini when using this feature? Does it happen when you are the one speaking?

You can do a sequential reboot. First, unplug your Nest Mini for 30 seconds, then do the same thing to your Wi-Fi router to refresh both devices and your Wi-Fi signal.

Keep me posted.

Juni

Hi Juni, thanks for replying. My kids are no longer able to access the google assistant. So they do now have access to song quiz, but they can't do things that require the assistant. I'm not able to set up the voice match for them. Family Link does not recognize me as a menber of google home even though i set up both the google home and family link from my account.

Hey there,

Thanks for the help, Juni!

To make sure, did you create a separate account for your kids? Give these steps a try:

  1. On the child’s phone or tablet, open the Google Home app.
  2. At the top right, select their child's profile picture or initial > Assistant settings > Voice Match > Add devices.
  3. Select the shared devices they want to add their child’s voice to.
  4. Give parental consent. To give permission, sign in with the parent’s account and password.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to give consent or turn on the following:
    • Web and App Activity (Optional)
    • Voice Match
  6. Tap I Agree.
  7. Hand the device back to the child and help them teach Google Assistant to recognize their voice, then tap Done.
  8. To turn on Personal Results, tap I Agree. To leave it disabled, tap No Thanks.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Alex
