Control of my temps when away

I am greatly disappointed in my new updated nest thermostat. I could control my first generation from remote sites now you guys want me to pay to be able to control it after I spend $400 buying it and having it installed by my HVAC professional. The basic settings that come standard are not agreeable to the south Florida climate. I can’t figure out how to change them to save my life. You didn’t do me any favors. I’m almost to the point where I wanna throw out the new nest and just go buy a cheap Honeywell.
