GOOGLE NEST DOORBELL WIRED, 2ND GENERATION CHIME CONNECTOR MELTING

BARBWIRE

The above Doorbell is hooked up to a chime/transformer side by side.  We just had to replace the doorbell because the chime connector melted.   So we have a new one and have connected it up the same.  Everything works, but the chime connector is again getting very hot again.    What is going on here?

Terminal with output 24V directly to the doorbell.  Does the connection Chime Connector get connected in parallel  w/2 wires going to the doorbell or is it connected in series to doorbell???

@BARBWIRE

Is your chime connector wired as shown in this Google Nest Help topic? Note that the second diagram is mislabeled and should say "Two Nest doorbells, ONE chime".
