Gen 1 Cameras

I was under the impression that effective at midnight on 4/1/24 that all 11 of my Generation 1 Nest cameras would stop working.  That is NOT the case!  I have spent A LOT of money replacing my Gen 1 cameras with the new Gen 2 cameras anticipating my Gen 1 units would stop working.  What is going on?  Is this some kind of bait and switch to get people to buy the new cameras?

Google Nest announced a year ago that they were discontinuing support for Dropcams and Dropcams Pro (only) on April 8, 2024, in this April 7, 2023 announcement:

There was never any Google Nest announcement anywhere about discontinuing all 1st gen Google Nest cameras on 4/1/2024.

We are still using the Google Nest app for our 1st gen Google Nest cameras and doorbells, and have two 2nd gen cameras that work in the Google Home app, which is not as good.
