Afternoon,
‘First time here with a question…
I had routines that triggered on device state (on/off) but deleted them as I undertook a tidy up. Now using either Script, the new routine editor or the original editor I cannot get the routine to trigger.
Has 3.40.54 broken the ability to trigger a routine on device state?

Well Script is still in Public Preview and when first starting the new automation editor this was shown...
You can go back to the previous version or go to Assistant Settings > Routines to use both simultaneously.
Reconnecting the brand app and Google Home app may help

I have noticed the same issue after updating to version 3.40.54. Routines that used to trigger on device state no longer fire as expected. It looks like this update may have changed or broken that function.
At the moment the only options are to use custom scripts or look at third party integrations such as Home Assistant if you need reliable device state triggers. Hopefully Google confirms whether this is a bug in the new release or a change in how routines are supposed to work.
