Google Home routines: Text editing?

I've found setting up routines with many commands (especially custom ones) has been very tedious in the Home mobile app. I've searched exhaustively for a way to edit the actual routine files in a text editor. Is it possible? I also had no success locating the routine files or info online on where to find them.

EDIT: Can anyone point me in the right direction? Or know of alternative ways to create more complex routines with custom commands?

I'm aware of IFTTT, but it appeared to be a similar interface/method to the Home app.

Any help is much appreciated!

.... A feature to duplicate your routines in the Home app would be very helpful when you need multiple routines with minor variations between them.
