Google Nest Mini and GFCI plug

Grant12

I bought a New Google Nest mini for my bathroom and it is plugged into a standard bathroom GFCI outlet.  I have a similar setup in two other bathrooms.  However, when I shut off the light and therefore cut power to my new Nest it demands that I reconnect to Google Home every time I turn on the light and power up the speaker- time consuming and a drag.  Doesn’t do this in other bathrooms.   However do I fix it so I don’t have to reconnect to Google Home each time?

Hi @Grant12!

Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry to hear that your new Google Nest Mini in your bathroom won't stay connected and requires you to reconnect it to the Google Home app every time the power is cycled. I appreciate you mentioning that your other Google Nest Mini devices in similar setups don't have this issue. I'm happy to help you troubleshoot this!

To help me find the best solution, I'll need to ask you a few questions:

  • When you plug your Google Home Mini back into a power source, do you get any error messages?
  • Could you tell me the firmware version of your Google Nest Mini? Here's an article that will help you check: Google speaker and display firmware versions and release notes.
  • Have you checked the Wi-Fi signal strength specifically in this bathroom where the Google Nest Mini is located?
  • Have you taken any specific troubleshooting steps?

Please keep me posted. I'll be waiting for your response.

Best regards,
Geremi
