I just realized that 3h video history for non-subscription model makes this 200$ device unusable.
This is in the end an outdoor security camera, the thief comes at 2 in the night you wake up at 7, you have no history.
And to pay yearly subscription of 100$ makes me just want to sell the product and get a cheaper version that has sd card or some Eufy product.
Do you guys all have the aware subscription?

Yep, it's basically a scam. When I, and most, first bought the camera the 3hr was expected to be a rolling record of 3hrs worth of footage.
Sadly no way out now, I had to sign up to nest aware which for sure wasn't what I initially wanted to do.

Access to event video history for Google Nest cameras and doorbells ls extremely limited without a "Nest Aware" or "Nest Aware Plus" subscription. I think the pricing for the subscriptions is reasonable only if you have several cameras and/or doorbells. We have multiple cameras and doorbells and have had a "Nest Aware Plus" subscription since 2020.

I also had this feeling. But I said, it’s a google product it can’t be.
The bad news for me is that i recommended this to 2 more friends, now are all in the same barrel..
The problem I have is initially it was advertised as only in solar mode it has 3h, plugged it has history. But now they changed it so whatever you do its just a toy.

We've had a battery camera since Sept. 2021 when it was first released, but I haven't seen the advertising you're referencing. Video history BEYOND still snapshots for the most recent 3 hours for 1st gen Google Nest cameras and doorbells, and event video history for the most recent 3 hours for 2nd gen Google Nest cameras and doorbells, has always depended on a Nest Aware subscription.
You have to look in two different Help topics for this, but when connected to a solar panel the battery camera can only provide event video history and not 24/7 video history even you have a Nest Aware Plus subscription. This is because "the panel doesn’t directly power the camera. Instead, the battery is trickle charged by the panel, and the camera runs off the battery charge" (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/11830989) AND the "Nest Cam (battery) must be connected to a power source to have 24/7 video history. If your camera is battery-powered, it'll only have event video history, even if you have a Nest Aware Plus subscription" (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9681538).
We have 24/7 video history for our battery camera because it is plugged in with the optional power cable AND because we have a Nest Aware Plus subscription.

No. I don't pay the subscription. I just use as a doorbell with a video and intercom. I use REOLINK CCTV to do the security bit.

I agree completely. I think the nest cameras are a complete waste of money and time. It would make sense to have the cameras connected to our google cloud like every other product. I have photos and documents that go back to 1997 yet history of my dog moving around my living room is only available for the last three hours. Google y'all can do better than that.
