Google nest turning itself on AC

My Google nest thermostat continues to turn itself on even if I shut it down. I cleared out the schedule and both manually and through the app shut it off but it turns itself back to AC. Any help?

Hello Motleycruzer2,

I'm sorry to hear that your thermostat keeps activating your AC randomly. I'd be happy to take a look at this for you.

Going over these steps might help:

For the Nest Learning Thermostat or the Nest Thermostat E:

  1. Disable the Auto-schedule in the Nest Sense settings or in the Nest app.
  2. Turn off Home and Away Assist.

For the Nest Thermostat 2020 model:

  1. Open the Google Home app. Tap Routines and check for any thermostat actions, then remove it.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,
Mark

In having the same issue for months. This is ridiculous, I keep waking up to a 50 degree house turning my ac off constantly and waking up freezing. This is wasting my energy bill and now my energy bill is 70 more then last month. I been on the phone with nest thermostat tech and didn't fix it. I want to be reimbursed for my energy bill every time nest adjusted my thermostat without my knowledge and without my doing.

Hi there,

Oh no! We don't want you to have this kind of experience, but I'd love to know more about what's going on. Can I have your support ID number from your previous contact with us so I can see what else we can do?

I'll look forward to your response.

Thanks,

Mark

I wasn't given a support id number, I was told that everything was documented and saved for future reference

I was sent a email from the messages chat that I was in. We tried to go through all the wiring and disconnecting different wires and swithing them but it's still happening.. here's a case number from the chat.

Chat transcript for case: 0-3404000034477

Hello Antcap503,

Perfect! Thanks for checking your reference number. I was able to review your case and it appears that you have the Nest Learning Thermostat 2nd generation. I also see that you have done some troubleshooting with the wires, and I appreciate the steps you've taken.

I wanted to make sure. Have you tried the steps I shared above? Were there any changes in 24 hours? Also, please restart your thermostat after adjusting the settings to ensure it syncs. Let me know how it goes.

Best,
Mark

Yeah I don't have any of those on, no eco mode no schedules, all that is off.

I just purchased a brand new 3rd generation and it just tu3ned it sell on to 50 all by itself again. I thought it was my older 2nd model and now it's doing this again with the brand new 3rd gen I just bought. This is ridiculous. I just wasted my money on buying a newer model on top of wasting my money on my energy bill.. this needs to stop immediately or I'm going to switch thermostats and stop using nest

Hey Antcap503,

I'm sorry for the experience you had using your Nest Thermostats. But it appears that you might be enrolled in the energy-saving program feature. If so, please try contacting your energy provider and verifying if they have associated your account with the Rush Hour Program, in which they have the ability to adjust the temperature during peak times.

You can check out this link for more information about how the Nest Thermostats work with Rush Hour Rewards, and let me know if you have more questions.

Thanks,
Mark

I dont understand, how could my UI company control my thermostat, this getting ridiculous. My family and I are waking up to freezing temperatures and this has been going on for months now, this needs to stop before I file a complaint with nest and go to small claims court for compensation for my higher utility bill and before my home gets so cold that my pipes start to freeze and causes damage to my home. I need to speak to someone asap about this and need to talk to someone instead of these numerous messages.

Also I just purchased a new 3rd gen thinking this was going to stop this and this one is doing the same thing. This is getting out of control. O now i have a 3rd gen learning thermostat amd also a thermostat sensor in my bedroom and this is still Turning itself down to 50°.

Hello Antcap503,

I'm sorry for the late response. I appreciate you keeping up with another Nest thermostat, and I'm sorry to hear it does the same thing. You can try reaching out to your utility company or, as you requested, our support team by filling out this form with the issue symptom so they know what to look forward to.

Let me know if there's anything I can assist you with.

Regards,
Mark

I am not inrolled in the energy saving program so this problem is still happening. Still my ac turns down to 50, but I notice its when I adjust it down. If I lower my ac from 70 say down to 68 a couple min later I will check it and I notice it turned it turned down to 50 by itself. It does this sometimes when I lower the temp. My UI bill now is over 300 and it's because I wake up in 50 degree weather. This is unexceptble and very costly. I just purchased the 3rd gen wasted my money on that too to try and fix it with no help. The only option is too remove from nest thermostat products  and buy a different setup which will cost more money for a new thermostat and wasted money on this 3rd gen.

Hey there,

I understand that you've been using it for years now, as I have reviewed your previous contacts with us, and it appears that you have exhausted all the possible steps. By any chance, have you tried resetting your thermostat to default? If you haven't yet, let's give it a try to recalibrate and make sure to avoid the smart program feature it would ask for throughout the process.

Best,
Mark

Hello Antcap503,

I don't want to be a nudge, but I'd like to check if you were able to get your thermostat working. Feel free to reach back if you still need help.

Thanks,

Mark
