How do I factory reset a nest cam with no apparent reset button

ihatethisforum

I have 2 nest cams that I moved from an old house to my new house. I can't remember what account they were under. Between me and my wife, we have like 8 email accounts from old businesses, childhood, etc. I just want to factory reset these camera or get them to work at my new house and am about to lose my mind. What is the neck of a camera? What are these people talking about? There is no info on my camera as to what generation it is. I must be getting old because I do not understand this format where there is no customer support or even AI to help walk me through this. If Nest knows that the cameras are associated with another account, can't they just tell me what email so I can log in? PLEASE HELP BEFORE I LOSE MY MIND

I am interested in the answers here. I moved from my old house and was told by Google Neat Support to create a new Nest Home in the app US by my same email address. I've done that. But now I come to find out all the devices on my old Nest account need to be deactivated if I want to add them to my new Nest home. I used the same email address for both so it's impossible for me to log into my old Nest home. Does this mean the new home owner of my house can't use the smoke detectors or thermostat?

Hi @ihatethisforum,

Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you're having trying to factory reset your Nest Cameras and connect them to your new Wi-Fi network, especially with the added frustration of not recalling which account they're linked to and the confusing information you've come across. I understand that factory resetting Nest Cameras can be confusing; the process can be different depending on their model. I'm happy to help.

Based on your scenario, I recommend that you first identify the model of your Nest Cameras by comparing them with the ones shown in the article Technical specs for Google Nest cameras and doorbells. Once the model is identified, you can factory reset them by following the steps in the article Restart or factory reset Nest camera or doorbell, and then set them up in the Nest app or Google Home app.

If you get an error message mentioning that your cameras are still associated with an existing account and you don't know which account they're linked to, you can fill out this form. Someone from the Nest Camera team will reach out to you via email to continue with your case. They will be able to find the associated account by using your cameras' serial numbers. To help us assist you better, please include the link to your 'Community Thread' and your 'Community Username.'

@Mboronkay, if your issue is also related to having your devices associated with a different account, feel free to fill out the form to get someone to reach out to you via email.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Regards,

Anders

Thanks for the reply.  My problem, as I understood it, was that I did not remove the devices from my old NEST home and therefore couldn't associate it with a new NEST home.  I told them I no longer have access to the old NEST home from my NEST APP since they also told me to create a new NEST Home for my new house.  I used the same email address for the new house as they old house.  They told me that was a mistake.  DUH!!!  But they were the ones who told me to do that in the first place.  That is why I became upset and frustrated.  After a few rounds with different support members, I decided I would figure it out myself.  So I used the HOME App which I still had the ability to switch to.  Once there, I saw deactivated the remaining devices I had, the thermostat and smoke detectors.  I added my new home in the HOME APP and was able to add the video cam's.  Not sure why it worked but I'm not asking for an explanation.  As long as it works.
