I have a nest max hub with video screen at night The screen is easy to see butdaytime screen is dark

I have just had my security system installed a couple days ago. I have the nest max hub with a 7 inch screen that shows my driveway from the camera on the front of my garage. Once the sun goes down and it starts to get dark the screen is very clear and I can see everything. But in the daytime, the screen gets very dark and I cannot see up the driveway. How do I brighten the screen I have asked “hey Google, how do I brighten the screen“ and I never get an answer instead I get about 20 different places to look on the Internet just looking for an easy fix to be able to view the screen during the daytime.

Hi @Sadie11,

Thanks for reaching out to the community! I understand you're having trouble with your Nest Hub Max screen getting very dark during the daytime, making it difficult to see your camera feed, even though it's clear at night. I'm happy to help you with some settings that should brighten your screen!

You can make your screen generally brighter by adjusting the Auto-brightness offset setting. This feature allows you to fine-tune how bright your screen gets in different lighting conditions. Please check it out the next steps:

Make sure your mobile device is linked to the same account as your Google Nest display.

  • Open the Google Home app on your phone.
  • Select your Nest Hub Max display from the device list.
  • At the top right, tap Settings (the gear icon), then select Display.Locate the Auto-brightness offset slider.
    • To increase the brightness, move the slider to the right (Brighter).
    • To decrease the brightness, move the slider to the left (Dimmer).

Since you mentioned the issue occurs during the daytime, disabling the Color matching (also known as Ambient EQ) feature might also help. This feature adjusts the screen's color temperature and brightness to match the room's ambient light, which can sometimes make the screen appear darker in certain conditions. Please follow the next steps:

Using the Google Home App:

  • Open the Google Home app and ensure your mobile device is linked to the same account as your Nest Hub.
  • Select your Nest Hub Max display.
  • Tap the Settings icon (the gear icon) in the top right corner.
  • Go to Display settings.
  • Find the "Color matching" or "Ambient EQ" setting.
  • Change the setting to "Never" or disable it.

Using the Nest Hub Max Display:

  • Swipe up from the bottom of the display.
  • Tap the sun icon (which represents Ambient EQ).
  • Toggle the Ambient EQ to the "off" position.

Please try these steps, and let me know if your screen's daytime brightness improves! If you have any more questions, I'm happy to help.

Best regards,

Debora
