LiFX lightbulbs only turning part way on in Google Home Automations?

When telling my Google Assistant to "Good Morning" or that I'm "Home" my LiFX light bulbs will only turn on a certain random percent instead of the full 100%. If they were set to a different color, only some of them are correctly set to the color defined by the automation.

Each bulb ends up at a different number, almost like the automation has continued without allowing the light bulbs to finish turning on.

In the automation, for each light bulb I have both "Turn on" and "Set brightness to 100%" as well as "Set color".

Other actions involve turning on other non-LiFX light bulbs, setting the volume of a device, having the weather told to me, and then starting the news. None of these have issues.

I have already tried relinking the devices to the Google Assistant service and factory reseting each light bulb and deleting and reinstalling the LiFX app which did not help.

I have had a long and frankly painful conversation with the LiFX support team who after a month of back and forth, insist this is a Google problem and not a LiFX problem, and that I should reach out to "Google Support" which does not exist beyond this forum.

How can I make sure my light bulbs turn all the way on?

This issue has been happening for over a year now. Its getting old.

Hi @Electrikal,

Thank you for your timely post and the comprehensive information you've provided. I've reviewed the input and understand that you're encountering issues when you try to turn on your LIFX light bulbs. I'm here to help you troubleshoot and find a solution together.

To assist you further, please attempt the following questions:

  • Were there any recent changes to your environment, such as a change in Wi-Fi network or relocation of the device?
  • Have you experienced any power outages in your area?
  • May I know the model of your smartphone?
  • Are both your Google Home app and smartphone operating system up-to-date?
  • Is this a personal or household routine?
  • Do you see an entry in the Home app feed for the routine running?
  • Is the Activate Routine toggle enabled?
  • Did you receive an error message notification or verbal response from the assistant-enabled device on which the action failed?
  • Is your personal result on?
  • Are your smart light bulbs successfully set up on the same WiFi network?
  • If your lights are also set up in the device maker’s app, are you able to control your lights through that app?
  • Have you recently made any adjustments to your WiFi network or Google Home app?
  • Have you ever been able to control your lights via your Google Home app?
  • What is the model of your Google speaker?
  • Are you using the same Google account on your mobile device and in the Google Home app? Are you in the same room as your speaker or display?
  • Are your light bulbs successfully set up on the Google Home app?

Please keep me posted.

Warm regards,

Jeremy.
