My doorbell isn’t connecting to my Google Home.

Hello everyone. I am having issues with connecting my new 2nd gen battery powered doorbell. I got it yesterday brand new, couldn’t connect it. I have tried everything to deleting and installing the Google Home app, restarting my phone, restarting the doorbell, factory restarting my doorbell, factory restarting my internet. I noticed that after I restarted my internet, when I tried to connect my other google devices (google hub and google nest mini) it wouldn’t connect. I had to manually connect to the google hub through my wifi and connect to the internet during set up. I am running out of options and I don’t want to return the doorbell. Any help is appreciated please and thank you.

Hi spotedbananas,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

I’m sorry to hear that you couldn’t connect your new Nest Doorbell 2nd gen (battery). Thank you for sharing with us all the troubleshooting steps you have tried to resolve the inconvenience, so I can better assist you. No worries, help is here.

Before I start further troubleshooting, let me ask you a few questions:

  • Are you using an Android or an iPhone mobile to set up your Nest Doorbell (battery)?
  • What is the make and model of your router?
  • Where was the device purchased?
  • Are you using the latest version of the Google Home app to set it up?
  • How far have you gotten in pairing your Nest Doorbell 2nd gen (battery)?
  • What color is the LED light on your Google Doorbell battery?
  • How far is the Nest Doorbell 2nd gen (battery) from the router?
  • Can you connect to the internet with other devices?
  • Are there any other devices that experience issues with the Wi-Fi?
  • Are you getting any error code on your Google Home app?
  • Are you connecting your Nest Doorbell 2nd gen (battery) to a 2.4 or 5 GHz Wi-Fi network?
  • Are there devices or appliances (such as baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) near the device you want to pair?
  • Is your mobile device and your Google Doorbell battery connected to the same WiFi frequency band?
  • Can you see the Google Doorbell battery on your Google Home app devices?

Besides the previous information, I would appreciate it if you could verify the camera’s battery state. Please follow the next instructions:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Verify that the Google Account shown at the top right is the one linked to the camera. To switch accounts, tap your account photo or initials, then tap the drop-down arrow and select the correct account.
  3. Tap Favorites (the heart icon) or Devices (the square with bar icon).
  4. Select the camera from the list of devices.
  5. Tap Settings.
  6. Under Device features, tap Battery.
  7. Please let me know the status of the battery icon you can see (color, level, or symbol).

Thanks for your kind attention; I will be looking forward to your response.

Best regards,

Virna
