[NETATMO Thermostat x Routines] How to turn off the t° with "Away" routine

Antoine_BRDK

Hi Community !

I would like to set up the "Away" routine on my Google Home app to switch off the heater system via my Netatmo thermostat when I leave my apartment :

- Based on location of my phone, when I leave my apartment -> Switch off heater system.
- When I come back in the area -> Switch it on again.

In the "personal routines" I can set actions like change the temperature, etc. but I can't set as trigger the location of my phone.

In the "away" routine, it takes into account the location of my phone but I can only set actions on my Philips Hue lights and connected plugs. I don't see my thermostat in the devices I can take action with.

Any idea how to solve this ?
Regards.

Hi Antoine_BRDK,

Thanks for reaching out and we're sorry for the delay.

The actions that we can create and customize for the routines may not be applicable to some products. With your Netatmo thermostat, you could check with their support team if we can set the thermostat to eco or set a certain temperature when you leave and arrive in your house.

We don't have any information on how to totally turn off your HVAC system with the command or routines with the Google Assistant.

Best regards,

Ryan

Hi @Ryan_G,
It's possible to turn off the HVAC system via Google and Netatmo as when I say "Ok Google, turn off the heater" my Google Nest Hub switch the thermostat off.

The problem I face is to add it to the "Away" routine and activate it when the Google Home app detect that I'm out of my apartment.

Any idea ? 🙂
Regards,

My issue is similar,  I can turn on and off the light of my smart fan with Home/Away, but not the actual fan...

Hi all,

Thanks for all your replies.

@Antoine_BRDK, I'd like to verify that when you say the command "Ok Google, turn off the heater" through your Google Nest Hub, it will turn off the thermostat and not the HVAC unit? Does it shut down the thermostat totally?

@Ikkyu, thanks for being here in the Google Nest Community. The off and on command will work mostly on switches and not the actual smart devices. In your case, the light is included to the devices which triggers only OFF and ON, for fan it is a different scenario since it has multiple fan speeds and its purpose is not primarily for OFF and ON only. You could try to add a smart plug/switch and then add it to your routines.

I hope it helps,

Ryan
