Problems with climate control in your home?

Wish you could see the analytics of your heating and cooling?

Try google Nest…..JUST KIDDING….Don’t!!!

its just pretty, pricey, garbage!!!!!  What’s the primary job of a thermostat.  One would probably say, “to regulate the temperature in your house”. Well, one would be correct. One problem…..the nest thermostat isn’t accurate. Mine always reads high! My first  gen 3 top model nest lasted little under a year until it lost its network capabilities, then I discovered it also  read 3-5 degrees high, causing my ac to run non stop.  I got a warranty unit, which fixed the network issue but still read high.  So, I bought the nest temp sensor after some reviews mentioned the network chip in the unit can generate heat, causing poor readings.  The sensor was better, but still read a degree or two high.  Then the sensor lost connection and won’t re connect.  I’m so sick and tired of this overpriced crap. Guess I’m going back to the trust old school Honeywell that never let me down…..word to the wise, stay away!!!!!!!

Hello Inkstarzz,

Thanks for reaching out. We appreciate your candid feedback and your willingness to share your experiences with the Google Nest Thermostat. It's unfortunate to hear about the challenges you've faced, from accuracy issues to connectivity issues with both the thermostat and the Nest Temperature Sensor. For your benefit, we'd like to investigate this further and try to make things right.

A few questions:

  • Could you share with us any of your support ID numbers so we can check out other possible troubleshooting steps?
  • Which type of Nest Thermostat do you have?
  • When was the thermostat installed?
  • Where did you install your thermostat? (in a room and on a wall or stand)
  • Do you have other active Nest Thermostats? If yes, do they show the same issue?
  • Please gather the signal strength value. Go to Settings > Technical Info > Network.
  • If you have a thermometer, take a photo of the thermometer next to the Nest Thermostat. Both the thermometer and thermostat screens should be visible in the photo and show the difference in each other’s readouts.
  • Could you give us a rundown of all the steps you have tried?

I look forward to your response.

Regards,
Mark
