Nest Aware repeats notifications when Persons, Dogs, Cars etc are detected

When Doorbell camera or Exterior camera detects a person, it will send me two notifications back to back instantly.  Really annoying  and makes the product/service seems really crappy.

I expected better from Google.

Please help fix this.

@AdamMc

That shouldn't happen unless your iPhone is signed into two Google Accounts that are each members of your Google Nest "home/structure".

How can determine if iPhone is signed into two Google Accounts that are each members of your Google Nest "home/structure".?

@AdamMc

I'm not entirely sure, because I never log onto more than one Google Account.

In the Google Home app, if you go to Settings, at the top you can see who is a member of your "household".

If you are on Google.com and click on your profile picture in the upper right corner, I think you may get a list of Google Accounts if you're signed onto more than one, or maybe you get it when you click on "Manage Account".

I've seen just a few posts in this forum from people who--for whatever reason--signed their phones onto more than one Google Accounts.

Hi @AdamMc,

Thank you for posting in the community. I understand you're getting two notifications every time your doorbell camera and exterior camera detect a person. This sounds frustrating, as the functionality of these devices is for them to work properly by sending you only one notification at a time. I'm happy to assist you.

Based on the information provided, I recommend you check if you have set up more than one activity zone on each device, as having multiple activity zones will send you a notification per zone.

You can learn how to create, edit and delete activity zones by visiting the article Set up and use Activity Zones.

Please keep me posted.

Anders

Hi AndersC

I have not setup any activity zones.  After checking I can confirm none of my cameras have Activity Zones set up.

Hi @AdamMc,

Thank you for replying and confirming you haven't set up any activity zones.

Since you haven't set up any Activity Zones, please let me know the model of your cameras. Then, try to create one zone per camera by following the steps below:

  • Home app:
    1. Open the Google Home app.
    2. Tap Favorites or Devices.
    3. Select the camera that you want to make an Activity Zone for.
    4. Tap More > Settings > Events > Seen Events.
    5. Choose + Add a zone. The new zone appears in the middle of the camera’s view.
    6. Change the shape of the zone to capture what you want.
    7. Under the camera view, tap on the Zone name to give your zone a descriptive name.
  • Nest app:
    1. Select the camera that you want to make an Activity Zone for.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Select Activity Zones.
    4. Tap Create Zone. The new zone appears in the middle of the screen.
    5. Turn your phone to go into landscape mode for a full screen of your camera’s view. Make sure the screen rotation setting on your phone is on.
    6. At the top of the screen, tap the pencil to give your zone a descriptive name. Then, tap the check mark to save the zone name.

Important: Once the Activity Zones are set, choose which event type you'd like to get notifications for. To get alerts within the zone, just follow the steps in the article Set up and use Activity Zones.

Please keep me posted.

Regards,

Anders

@AdamMc

Maybe this thread from 2022 will be helpful; when this customer got duplicate notifications, each of the duplicate notifications showed a different Gmail account.  (I have only one, and my notifications do not show a Gmail account.)

Thanks

I am logged into both of my Google accounts on my phone as one is for personal (Google Home) and the other is for work (Google Workspace etc)

logging out of one is not an option as I need both all the time.

hopefully their is another solution

@AdamMc

Is your work Google account also a member of your Google Nest "home/structure"?  If you go to Settings in the Google Home app, under the address for your Google Nest "home/structure" is an icon/photo for each member of your "home".  If you click on any of them, it will show a "Household" screen listing each member.
