Hello! I am hoping to control my HVAC’s fan through an automated script via GoogleHome. From the research I’ve done, there’s not a way to control the fan via automations.
Here’s what I want to script:
If BASEMENT_TEMP > 85
then FAN_ON
else FAN_OFF
Let me know if anyone has had any success controlling their fan via automations.
thanks.

Have you tried using IFTTT?

Hi @Eco_Heat_MtnMan,
Thanks for reaching out to the Google Nest Community. I can understand how important it is for you to create a fan control automation in your Google Home. Don’t worry; help is here.
I want to share with you the following articles that will help you with your home automation: Create advanced home automations with the script editor. Write scripted automations with the script editor.
Let me know how it goes.
Best regards,
Derick.

The usual "non-answer". We need a scripting command to control the fan. I'm about ready to buy ecobee cuz this is plain stupid.

No, there's not. I'm currently controlling mine through Nest Smart Device Management API. But seems that Google is in the process of slowly killing that too. I tried Google Home automations for temperature control (beyond the constant manual adjustments the thermostat requires), but I found them to be extremely unstable and unreliable. So you may be right with your backout plan, as there may be no permanent option to fully automate Nest thermostats.
