Nest doorbell toggle Philips Hue smart bulbs, get initial state?

Hi,

I am really excited about this. This scripting engine would allow for full automation within the platform. Now my automations are spread over different solutions. Having said that, with tasker i have it setup that when someone presses the doorbell, the lights across the house flash in a red color x-amount of times.

Now, when the lights are on at the time someone rings the bell, it will remember the initial color (or state) , flash that light in red and once the automation is over, it will return it to its original color. If the light was off, it will turn it back off.

I've been over the docs but i don't see how i can get the current value of a lamp? Anyone has an idea how to do this?

Thanks @Snak3d0c for sharing your question. You observation is right that the script editor currently does not support variable to store (and then restore) the state. This is a great use case though and I would encourage you to submit your idea here so that others can vote on it too.
