I’m a software engineer and I’d like to know if there’s any way I can force my Nest thermostat to go below 76 when it thinks no one is home. To clarify, this is not about disabling eco mode. I’ve done that. But when Nest thinks no one is home, it sets itself to 76. It is impossible to change this setting to less than 76. This is infuriating because (1) my thermostat is placed in a rarely used hallway so it always thinks no one is home and (2) the hallway happens to be one of the coolest places in the house. So right now, during this heatwave, it constantly turns itself to 76 and the rest of the house is 85. I know this because I have a baby and the baby monitor has a thermometer that routinely goes to 86 or 87 degrees. I have to constantly open my phone and go to the Nest thermostat app and turn it back on. It is making me hate this product. I truly just want a regular thermostat at this point that I could just set to 70 or 72 and trust that it will maintain this temp. But this product refuses to do that. At this point I’m desperate and will either get rid of the Nest and Google Home altogether or write a script that will essentially attempt to hack the Nest thermostat and tell it I’m always home. Any ideas on how to do that? And Google, please please consider allowing customers to set the away temp to less than 76. You have no idea where in someone’s house the thermostat is placed and so by deciding for me that 76 is the away temp you have essentially decided that 85 is the temp in my house unless I continually check my phone every hour and force it out of away more. So incredibly frustrating.

While you're hacking into the Nest API, would mind also restoring the API configuration so that the Nest Protects are exposed to the SmartThings integration? I would really appreciate it! 🙂
Oh, and by the way, you may have a better chance of receiving an answer if you post your question in the Thermostats section.
