So Google has decided to discontinue service for the Gen 1 and 2 thermostats. I’m so PO’d that I’ve decided that I will not only abandon the Nest Product line but I am going to abandon all Smart Thermostats. Going back to a non digital, manual thermostat.
The lies about not being able to migrate these products over to the new platform, lies, bull**bleep**. It’s programming and adding support on the new platform or keeping the old platform running in parallel with the new one are some of the possibilities. Lies, lies, lies, money grab.
You want me to move over to the new thermostat then sell me one for $20 or go away. I will be avoiding the purchase of any and all Google products from now on. This is part of my home and no one should screw around with it or anyone else’s home.
You corporate mega entities need to stop creating e-waste and it’s time to take all of you down. For at least 25 years I had the old mechanical type thermostat and moving over to a smart thermostat really did nothing to enhance my life so it’s time to go back.
