Nest installation

I cannot get the Nest to respond/interface with the app.   I have installed it and it powers up but the Touch Bar is not responsive.   I have only two power wires, red and white and have inserted those into the correct ports.   I am wondering if I need a common wire for the Nest to be work.  Or alternatively, how can I get the the Touch Bar to respond so I can proceed (I can't even get an activation number--the process is stopped at this step).   From examining a similar post (I have a Honeywell old mercury thermostat) I am thinking I need a Nest Learning Thermostat.    Thanks.

Thanks for reaching out to the Community. I’d be happy to help you with the Nest thermostat. Let’s check it out.

 

A few questions: which country are you located in? What is the model of the Nest thermostat? Are there any messages on the app or display?

 

If you haven’t done so already, try restarting the thermostat. If the issue persists, you may need to reset the thermostat to factory settings to isolate the hardware issue.
