Nest thermostat

I have a nest learning thermostat. I replaced my old thermostat with the nest.  On the old one the white and black wire were connected but under the nest two wire do not fit into the connection. I have a heat pump connected how do I get the two wires to connect or do I connect them to two separate connections?

Hello Chuco18,

I'm sorry for the late reply, and thanks for reaching out with your thermostat wiring diagram. I'd be happy to take a look into this for you.

Your system might have either a second-stage heater or an auxiliary heater. To confirm your system's configuration, could you share a photo of your HVAC system's control panel with us? This is to determine the purposes of the two wires. Also, please check out this guide on how to check your system wires.

I'll look forward to your response.

Regards,

Mark
