Hi @RRL,

Unfortunately, there isn't a way to factory reset your Nest thermostat remotely through the Google Home app. However, here is what you can do:

  • Remove the device from the Nest app.
  1. Sign in to the Nest app.
  2. If you have another home, on the app home screen, tap Menu. Then select the home that has the product you'd like to remove.
  3. On the app home screen, tap Settings .
  4. Tap the product you'd like to remove.
  5. Scroll down and select Remove [product name].
  6. You'll then be asked to confirm your choice.
  • Remove the device from the Google Home app.
  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap and hold your device's tile.
  3. Tap Settings > Remove device > Remove.

Contact the New Homeowner (Preferred):

  • The best course of action would be to reach out to the new homeowner and explain the situation. You can offer to walk them through the reset process over the phone or provide them with instructions.
    • Resetting the thermostat is a simple process that typically involves holding a button on the thermostat itself for a certain amount of time. The exact steps may vary depending on the Nest thermostat model.

Remember, communicating with the new homeowner is the most considerate approach. By explaining the situation and offering to help, you can ensure a smooth transition for both parties.

Best,

Brandon.

Hi @RRL,

By any chance are you referring that you remove the Google Home app while you said "removed the apple from google home".

However, your devices are linked to your email account not to the app itself, so first you will need to log in to your current account and remove the device from your account, so even if you change your device, you are still available to get access to your Nest devices.

Best,

Brandon.

@RRL,

No worries, that happens! Removing the thermostat from Google Home doesn't affect its physical connection or functionality with your Nest system. Here's how to remove it from the Google Home app:

  • Remove the device from the Google Home app.
  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap and hold your device's tile.
  3. Tap Settings > Remove device > Remove.

Best,

Brandon.
