I've attempted a factory reset on my doorbell multiple times, I never hear a chime and it flashes yellow ever so briefly. I tried connecting multiple times via the Nest app and got an NC003 error. I even tried turning everything off at the breaker box for a minute to see if powering it down would help.
It still operates as a regular doorbell, triggering the indoor chime when the button is pressed
Is there any hope or am I going to have to fork out for a new doorbell camera?

Well, the NC003 error means "the app thinks that your Nest doorbell has some previous settings on it" (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9240048?hl=en&sjid=4971142325087869521-NC#old_settings&...).
So perhaps the factory reset was not successful. Did you press the reset button and the doorbell button for at least 10 seconds while the camera was still connected to your doorbell wires, as described here?

Yep, tried multiple times
