my cousin moved in and I wanted the google system to recognize him as being home or away. But when I connected his phone it took recognition away from my phone. That makes no sense, why can’t the system recognize if both of us are home?

Hi @Jengiantkiller,
Thanks for reaching out! I understand you're having trouble keeping the Home/Away Assist feature active on two different mobile devices because it keeps turning off on the second one. I'd be happy to share more details.
Home/Away Assist is designed to automatically manage your connected home devices (like turning them on or off) based on your location to help you conserve energy. However, for a home with multiple residents, this feature is intentionally limited to one primary phone. When multiple phones attempt to use their location to determine if the house is "Away," the system can become confused. For example, if two people have the feature active, it can't accurately determine when everyone has truly left the residence to reliably switch to "Away" mode. Limiting it to one phone ensures the feature works correctly.
For a more detailed explanation of how it works, please check out our Help Center article: Learn more about Home/Away Assist.
We're always looking for ways to improve our products, and the idea of enabling this on multiple devices is great for a future update! We’d love for you to share your idea directly with our team using our feedback form.
I hope this helps!
Best regards,
Debora
