I have a routine set up in Google Home to grind coffee. It’s pretty basic - trigger is “hey Google grind coffee”. Action turns on the grinder, then “after 15 seconds”, turn off grinder. Works perfectly, but only for me, with about 15 seconds of coffee ground.
If a family member or guest starts the routine, it starts the grinder and then never stops. If I try and stop it, Google tells me the routine is still running. It’ll run indefinitely it seems.
Thoughts?

Hi Jimhensley123.
Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community.
This is not the experience that we wanted you to have, let me help you out. A few things: Is this a personal routine or household routine? Is the family member added in your Google Home app? If so, did they set up a voice match?
For Personal Routines, only the person who creates the Routine can use and edit the Routine. This type of Routine is best used to automate personal devices and services. For Household Routines, eligible home members can create and edit Routines for their home. This type of Routine is best used to automate home devices that everyone in the home uses.
You can check this link for more information.
Hope this helps.

Juni

Interesting - thanks for response Juni. It’s a “personal routine” but it seems like everyone in the hoist is able to start it, even guests who have not registered their voice match.
I will switch it to a household routine and see if that works.

The household routines don’t have the “delay” feature yet, so I don’t know if this will help.
This really isn’t the right solution anyways. Complete strangers being able to start personal routines is a security problem, and the “wait” aborting for strangers is a bug.

Hi Jimhensley123,
Thanks for the details. Could you try your phone’s Google assistant if it’s the same? We just need to further isolate the issue if it’s just your Nest speakers or your account. Also which Nest speaker/display do you own?
Looking forward to your response.
Best,
Juni
