Smart wall switch

I have a two gang wall switch that controlled two separate groups of lights in my kitchen ('Kitchen Spots' and 'Under Cab lights'). For the last year this has worked fine - I can ask my Nest Hub Max display to turn on one or the other switch, and routines I have set up are capable of operating the switches independantly.

Some time earlier this month this functionality failed, and now Google Home only sees one device, a single switch called 'Kitchen'. If I trigger this switch from the app, or verbally, both groups of lights activiate. There is no longer way of actuating them independantly from any Google or Nest device. The linked controling app Smart Things still allows independant control, but that doesn't really help.

Can anyone suggest how to proceed to restore the previous functionality?

It sounds like "Kitchen" is the room within Google Home that the two switches are in.  Google Home uses rooms to  group devices together.  That way you can say something like "Hey Google, turn off all the kitchen lights" or manually on/off all the kitchen lights.

Just some suggestions of things to try and to troubleshoot.  I don't know for sure if this will help.  Some of these may break your routines within Google Home.

  1. When using Google Home on the mobile device make sure you are scrolling down to see all rooms and devices within.  Clicking Google Home -> Lights will give a quick way to on/off all lights in a room but may not show individual devices.
  2. Open SmartThings app to see what the device names are.
  3. In Google Home check in the Kitchen room to see if there are switches that match the SmartThings names.
  4. Check other rooms in Google Home to see if one of the switches was inadvertently moved to another room.
  5. Verify there is not some device in Google Home with a weird or unusual name that actually is one of the kitchen switches.  This may require checking each to be sure.
  6. If you cannot  find the missing switch in Google Home and you are sure it is in SmartThings, you can try to reconnect your SmartThings account.  Google Home app -> Settings -> Works with Google -> SmartThings.  There is an option for Reconnect and an option to unlink.  Unlink and relink would be a more extreme option.

Hopefully some of that helps you get to the bottom of it.
