Something went wrong

Every time I click on my tv on my google home app, a black box flashes, “something went wrong” and my tv wont connect. What should I do?

In order to help, summer additional information is needed:

Is your Google Home app updated to the most recent version?

Is this a new problem?  What used to happen when you "clicked on your TV in the home app"?

What TV do you have?

Let's start with that and see where it gets us.

HealthEdHaze, thanks for asking that questions.

 

GrantM17, I have additional questions as well to fully understand your issue. Do you have a Chromecast or a TV with a built-in Chromecast? Was it working before? If so, were there any recent changes on your network or set up?

 

You might want to give these steps a try:

 

  • Reinstall your Google Home app.
  • Make sure your devices are within 15-20 feet of your router and connected to the same network.
  • Try rebooting your phone, TV and router to refresh the connection.
  • Try using a different phone to see if you'll get the same result.
