Speaker group hijacked by single Nest Hub Max

This started a few days ago after a year + of working fine. As long as I have this particular Nest Hub Max plugged in, it hijacks the audio from my Home Group and only plays audio on this one device - specifically for one app: Smart Audiobook Player. Updating the app made it work like normal again - once. And then right back to hijacking the audio from the group.

I only have Nest products in the group: 2 Nest Hub Max and 5 Nest Audio. I factory reset the Next Hub Max causubg the issue (Office display) to no avail. I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. My software and all my apps are up to date. Any ideas?

Hi Glenn3,

Thanks for reaching out and for providing detailed information on your issue and the steps that you've done — these are of great help!

Could you check if your Nest Hub Max is set up as a default device to play the audio? Below are the steps to view this setting.

  1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is linked to the same account as your display.
  2. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  3. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  4. At the top right, tap Settings , then:
    • To choose the TV or speaker you want to use when you play music, tap Audio and then Default music speaker, then choose the TV or speaker you want to use when you play music.
    • To choose your preferred TV, tap Display and then Default TV, then choose your preferred TV.

Check this link for more information.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Juni

Juni,

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, this didn't help. My audio will only play to the office display when I select my home group. If I unplug the office display, it will only play to the kitchen display when I choose the home group. It's very frustrating as this is the primary purpose of my using these devices.
