Unable to delete devices from google home

Hello,

I have run into a problem this morning: I removed a "Works with Google" service from my Home app and deleted the account related to it. The problem is that all the devices remained as offline in my Google Home app without the possibility of removal: the service is not in list so I cannot unlink it and I cannot readd it because I have no account. I also cannot move the devices in another room/home, because the app says "There was an error communicating with Google. Please wait a moment, then try again" and the app .

All these orphan devices are grouped in "Linked to your account".

Can someone help me?

Thank you.

I understand that you're facing issues with your Google Home app after removing a "Works with Google" service and deleting the associated account. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the problem:

  1. Clear cache and data: Start by clearing the cache and data of the Google Home app on your device. Go to the Settings menu, locate the "Apps" or "Applications" section, find the Google Home app, and select "Clear cache" and "Clear data." This can help refresh the app and resolve any temporary issues.

  2. Restart your devices: Power cycle your devices, including your smartphone or tablet running the Google Home app, as well as the Google Home devices themselves. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues and refresh the connection between the app and the devices.

  3. Reinstall the Google Home app: If clearing cache and data didn't resolve the issue, try uninstalling the Google Home app from your device and then reinstalling it from the official app store (e.g., Google Play Store for Android or App Store for iOS). This can help ensure you have the latest version of the app and that any potential software glitches are eliminated.

  4. Check your internet connection: Ensure that your device is connected to a stable internet connection. If you're experiencing network issues, it could prevent proper communication between the Google Home app and your devices. Restarting your router or troubleshooting your network connection might be necessary.

  5. Contact Google Support: If the problem persists, it's recommended to reach out to Google Support for further assistance. They have specific knowledge and tools to help troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Google Home devices and the associated app. Visit the Google Support website or look for dedicated support channels related to Google Home.

By following these steps and seeking assistance from Google Support, you should be able to address the issue you're facing with your Google Home app and the orphan devices. They will be able to provide you with more personalized guidance based on their expertise and access to your specific account details.

Hello everyone,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry about this experience.

We highly recommend unlinking your smart home devices first from the Google Home app before you make any changes with their respective native apps. In that way, you won't encounter this issue in the future.

Now, go ahead and remove the third-party services that you wanted to unlink from your Google Account's Linked accounts. Once done, clear the cache of your Google Home app and check if the devices are still showing or not.

If you wish to chat with our team, you can contact us using this link.

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks,
Lovely
