I have a countdown routine that gives a voice prompt ("10 minutes to go") waits a minute then gives another ("9 minutes to go"), etc., but sometimes I need the routine to stop before it gets to the end of its 10 minutes. I haven't been able to find a way and just have to wait out the routine. In 2022, someone posted a similar question (https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Home-Automation/Routine-to-stop-a-routine/m-p/275049#M9393) and it was suggested there may be a future solution. I can't find evidence of this now. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

Not without going into the Google Home app and attempting to edit the routine that is active. It asks if you want to stop the routine so that you can edit it.
You could add a shortcut to you Android home screen to find the routine easily.
