Why not lock stolen devices

I am a bit frustrated that there isn’t anything out in place ti help prevent thieves from using or fencing stolen devices which makes them worth stealing. that’s ooorlynworded but here’s the situation. Both my google nest hub max and mini were stolen from me. I know who took it and can’t do anything about it because I can’t prove it because they took the box. Recieots and device as I have just set them up. If this were my iPhone or even a google

ohone it’s my understanding the device could be locked. However all you have to dkis hold the button down on the back of the googlehub max for 10 seconds to reset it. It’s frustrating that a 350.00 device doesn’t have any build in anti theft features that can be remotely engaged to detour such theft. Why not. I’m hesitant to buy any more as I have to ensure them through my insurance and the deductible is not worth the claim. Is there something being done to rectify this risk. I can’t be the only one with this l frustration  .

Hi folks,

@Cathal_S, thanks for the help.

@Burs0663, thanks for posting. This is not the experience that we wanted you to have, however, the feature to track and lock our Nest speakers and displays is not yet supported. We're always looking for ways to improve. I'd suggest you submit feedback about it using the link provided by Cathal_S.

Let us know if you have other questions and concerns otherwise, we will be locking this thread after 24 hours.

Thanks,

Juni
