can't sign into Nest with my gmail

I can't sign into Nest with my gmail account?  I am going out of my mind and don't understand what I need to do to make this work HELP

Mine keeps crashing. Been trying all afternoon. When I go to Nest on my CHROME browser, I’m told I need to update the **bleep** browser. It is up to date!!!

Just now, I had to log out of the Google Nest app and then log in again, select my Google Account, and grant it access.

I’m glad that worked for you! Day 2 no go with the app. I cannot see my cameras either with the Nest app (it crashes), my Chrome, Safari or Duck Duck Go browser (it tells me I need to update my browser in all 3 applications). Google Home works, but I can’t roll the cameras back in that app like I can the Nest App. Very frustrating!!!

Have you tried deleting and reinstalling the Nest app?  You don't lose any data; you just sign back on with the same credentials as before.

@MplsCustomer  Yes, about 4 times now. I’ve uninstalled it, restarted my phone, reinstalled it…same result. It gets me to the screen where it wants me to allow home/away assist… I always say “Not Now” and it will let me in. But now when I get to that screen it will drop that screen, bring it right back up then “crash” and take me to the “Sign in with Google” blue screen. It’s crazy. I also checked to make sure my phone was up to date. Of course, it is. I’m on an iPhone13,

Perhaps you should try contacting Support, using the link and instructions in the post below. This is really odd. I have a vague recollection of a few other customers in this forum reporting an "update your browser" error, but I can't find those posts and can't recall whether there was a solution posted.

@MplsCustomer  Well, Support gave up! All I can do is wait for my phone to do an update and see if the problem corrects itself! 🤷🏻‍♀️

They should at least put you on a watch or followup list. If the Google Nest app is opening with the screen to allow "Home/away assist", perhaps there is something messed up with your Google Nest "home/structure" on the Google Nest servers that Google Nest has to fix.

On this thread, the customer changed their default browser back to "Safari" on their iPhone to resolve this problem:

If you go to your Google Account on your browser and select "Manage Account", and then select "Security" and scroll down to "Your connections to third-party apps & services", and then select "See all connections", is "Nest" listed?

@MplsCustomer  I’m so sorry I did not see your response until now. Still in the same boat. Nest App and my browsers will not work. I did update my Nest app a day or so ago and still did not have any change. I have an iPhone 13, my husband has an iPhone 11 and his works just fine. Not sure if that has anything to do with it but that is the only difference.

@MplsCustomer  It was set to Safari as default browser. When I try to view the camera I still get the dreaded “Update Your Browser” screen. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I'm just another Google Nest customer.  We do NOT have this problem on an iPhone 13, iPhone XR, or on our iPad.  I don't know what the cause of the problem might be.  On my iPhone, Safari is the default browser, but Chrome shows fewer options than on your phone:

I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble with this. No worries, we'll check this out. Just a few questions: What type of phone are you using? Have you tried signing in on a different phone?? Are you having the same issue if you sign in on the https://goo.gle/2qjvVSU on an updated browser?

Hi @EdmondB . Support has been trying to help to no avail. I have an iPhone 13, my husband has an iPhone 11 and he has no issues. I tried your link to no avail.

Thanks for the information. I just want to check if you tried a different browser aside from Safari. And if you've tried disabling the settings for cross-site tracking, if not, just go to the settings on your iOS device, select the option for Safari, and then tap Cross-Site Tracking to turn it off.

Yes, I tried Chrome, Safari and Duck Duck Go - same result on all 3. Using the browser, I can log in and see my cameras. It’s when I click on any of them that I get the notice to update my browser. The app just keeps looping back to the sign-in to Google screen. I can see my cameras sometimes for a brief half-second before it goes back to the sign-in screen. So I get logged in, but then logged right back out, apparently. Support has had me do so many things to no avail. I was told the app would update within the week, which it has, but that did not fix my issue. I am completely stumped as to what happened.

Update: After more than 2 weeks, my app is working again. Support asked me to fill out a form and gave me a reference number to include referencing our correspondence over the last 2 1/2 weeks. I don’t know what they did, but it’s working now as it should. I was asked to monitor it for the next 24-48 hours, which I will do. So if you have an issue, reach out. Support has been great through this whole frustrating experience.
