"Google, turn on living room lights" no longer works after installing Kasa smart plugs.

I use my google home to turn on/off my philips hue lights. This has worked properly for +4 years until I installed TP-Link Kasa smart plugs, which I have non-hue lamps plugged into.

Context:

  • All "lights" (hue bulbs & kasa plugs) are placed in the same room in my google home app. See this screenshot for a visual - the bottom row are Kasa plugs, the top 2 rows are hue lights.
  • This problem began after installing the Kasa smart plugs.

Current:

  • When I say "Google, turn on / turn off room lights" it will only impact the kasa plugs but not the hue lights.
  • When I ask Google to "turn the living room lights to 20%", it won't change the hue lights' intensity at all.
  • Before I installed Kasa plugs, it would do these things correctly 100% of the time.

Expected:

  • When I say "Google, turn on / turn off room lights" it will do so for both hue lights & Kasa smart plugs.
  • When I say "Google, turn the living room lights to 20%" it will do so for just the hue lights (because Kasa plugs don't support dimming, only on/off."

Any tips or advice would be a huge help - thank you!

I use a combination of kasa and hue...among others...never had this issue specifically.  I did have an issue with hue a while back, ended up removing all hue devices and the hub, and starting from scratch, this solved it for me.  Kasa stuff has always been a breeze and just work.
