Re: NOT Happy Google

I changed my ISP and now I can’t connect to any of the protect devices. Tried every possible way! Wish hadn’t bought these, 15 of them for my huge house!

Hi @Arthrosurgeon,

Thank you for posting in the community. I’m sorry to hear that you're unable to reconnect your Nest Protects after switching to a new Internet Service Provider. I understand how difficult it is to have 15 devices across a large home suddenly stop communicating. I appreciate you confirming that you already tried troubleshooting your Nest Protect. I'm happy to assist.

To gather the necessary information, please answer the following questions:

  • When you try to add the devices back to the Nest app, are you seeing a specific error code?
  • Have you tried performing a factory reset on one of the units before attempting to pair it with the new Wi-Fi?
  • Is your new router broadcasting a combined 2.4GHz and 5GHz network name (SSID), or are the bands separated? (Nest Protect requires a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi connection).
  • Are you using any Wi-Fi mesh nodes or extenders with your new ISP's equipment?

I'll be waiting for your reply.

Best regards,

Derick.

Dear Derrick,

Many thanks for your reply.

I got them working after a huge pain in my neck and shoulders! I did have to reset all of them to factory setting. Then remove them all from my Home in the app. Then I had to unscrew all of them to get the QR code to add them again to the app. And yes, I had to create a separate 2.4Hz channel in the internet to add them. Finally they are all working. But as @Jason2706 mentioned it was very painful! Thanks!
