Allow Google Calendar to automatically heat room for meetings

Andyd

I would like Google Calendar to heat a room only when there is a meeting booked.

To save energy, we would like to have the rooms at 13C (55F) until they are booked.  Then have the temperature much warmer 21C (70F).  After the meeting the room should return to 13C.

Hey Andyd,

Since the Nest Thermostat controls the settings, you're a bit limited in some of the automation you can do as far as syncing with outside apps or services, such as a calendar. If you have standing meetings that take place at regular times on regular days, you can use schedules to control things to your liking. You can see a bit more about schedules and how to use them here: https://goo.gle/3Qnufi1.

For getting the app to see a Google Calendar, it's not currently a feature, but it's something I can pass along to our internal teams in the form of a feature request. If there's more I can do beyond submitting that request, please let me know.

Thanks,
Jeff

Put the enhancement request in.

We have been uusing the nest schedule functionality.   I was looking for something more.   I was looking for the ability to automatically get heat/cooling when the room is booked in Google Calendar.   We then wouldnt have to open another app and schedule there.   If meeting moved then the room heating would also move.   Also would gain access to the very powerful scheduling available in Google calendar (instead of the limited Nest functionality).  I believe this would also see applicability for air bnb owners etc.

Thank you

Andy

What i am asking for is an enhancement.   I suspect it may take more than a couple days to get requirements and do design.

Hi Andyd,

Thanks for getting back to us. You can set that kind of setup using the schedule from the Nest Thermostat or from your Nest app or Google Home app.

For Nest Learning Thermostat:

Add a new temperature

While viewing your Nest Thermostat’s schedule:

  1. Tap the day of the week that you want to add a new temperature to.
  2. Tap Add.
  3. Tap on the grid to add a new setpoint.
  4. You can drag the setpoint left and right to change the time. Drag it up or down to adjust the temperature.

Hit this link for more information and let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Emerson
