We have 2 nest thermostats. The same setup but one is show the W as aux heat and the other is showing W empty. Help. We also just had our heat strips replaced before we installed the thermostats. Repair had to come back as heat strips were getting power but not firing. They replaced them and said it was probably a faulty part. However I’m concerned out thermostats aren’t wired correctly and possibly friend the new heat strips. Is this possible??

Is this 2 separate heating ac systems each with their own Nest or 2 zones on the same system?
Is this a Heat pump with aux heat?
We need to see the wiring on each Nest Base and if you have pics of the old tstats before you removed them and installed the Nests.
The Nest can't damage the heat coils it only sends 24v on the W wire to the system that tells the system to turn on the heat coils.

Thanks! Good to know about the heat strips. It’s one unit with 2 zones annd yes, an heat pump with anux heat. Heat strips were replaced annd the part was faulty ans HVAC had to come back 2 weeks later annd replace heat strips again. Identical setups. Trying to add the pictures

Looks like a basic Heat Pump.
Is White in W1 or W2 on the Nest?
Did you set it up as a heat pump during setup with Aux heat defined on the W (1or2).
Once it is setup properly then you have to setup Heat Pump Balance which controls how the Aux heat is used during cold outside temps.
