Best thermostat

I bought home with nest thermostat but don’t know if it is 1st, 2nd, 3rd gen.  I want to know how to set at night to maintain cooling temp.  I get up at least twice every night when I have set temp to 70 and it is at 73 or 74, and I change it back to 70
