Combining PIN and allowable temperature range for Nest Learning Gen 4

Hi all, I have a new Nest Learning Gen 4 thermostat, I want to set a PIN and and an allowable temperature range, and then allow the user that is physically using the thermostat to be able to adjust the temperature (within the allowable range) WITHOUT being required to enter a PIN.

Is there a way to do this?

Thanks in advance for all replies!

Hi @NestBuilder81,

Thanks for reaching out to the community! I understand you want to set a PIN and an allowable temperature range for your Nest Learning Thermostat 4th gen so others can adjust the temperature within that range without needing the PIN. I’m happy to help!

To set a lock with a specific temperature range, follow these simplified steps directly on your thermostat:

  • Press the thermostat ring to open the Quick View menu.
  • Turn the ring to Settings and press to select.
  • Turn the ring to find Lock and select it.
  • Enter a 4-digit PIN and confirm it.
  • Select the temperature range you want to allow. Turn the ring to set the minimum and maximum temperatures.
  • Select Done to lock your thermostat.

Once locked, anyone can turn the ring to change the temperature within the range you set, but the PIN will be required to go beyond those limits or change settings. For more details, you can check our guide: Lock and unlock your Nest thermostat.

I hope this helps!

Best regards,

Debora
