Connect Nest Learning Thermostat to Daikin in Portugal

Hi,

I want to connect my Nest Learning Thermostats in my new home with Daikin ACs. This is not an issue if I lived in the US but I live in Europe and specifically in Portugal.

My AC installer says that these are not compatible. After insistance, they sent me the link to the DropAir adapters website but they cost as much as Nests...

Are Nests compatible? Is there an alternative?

This is like a soap opera 🙂 I bought 7 Nests because Daikin support told me they were compatible with my setup. But after having them, I asked for connection details and they said they were not compatible.

Thanks for reaching out to us @ntavares . I am sorry to hear about the problems with your setup. 

To clarify, the US and EU versions of the thermostats are different. You can read more about this on our Differences between Nest thermostats made for Europe and North America page. In short however the US one works with low voltage cooling and heating systems and the EU one works with high voltage heating and hot water systems. 

Now I can't advise if the particular AC system you have is compatible with our EU thermostats using those adaptors, that is only something the manufacturers of the product might be able to advise. It's unlikely that EU version of the thermostat would work. It is compatible with heat pump systems but only ones that are not reversible, so heating only. If your system handles heating and cooling it will most likely not work, and I can't say about those adaptors.

It may be possible that the US version would work with it. You can try checking the US model compatibility page here and the US compatibility checker to see what the results are.

I know the adaptors from DropAir work and can resolve the connections issues. But these are expensive and each one them costs as much as the Nests. Do you know any other adaptors?

Unfortunately all we have it can be check on google store. I just checked and there's nothing resembling what you need.

Does anyone used or knows about DKN Plus Adaptor?
