Had my unit serviced because it wasn't cooling. After the tech left I started getting a message in my app saying the unit will start soon, turning it on off too soon can cause equipment damage. Not sure what this means but im hot and I just paid that guy $400.

Hi @Mir101780,

Thank you very much for contacting this community! I completely understand the issue you've had with your unit not cooling. Now, after the checkup, you're receiving a message in the app. I know the $400 you spent is significant, especially for problems like these. Don't worry, I'm here to help you!

To share the correct troubleshooting steps I'd like to ask you some questions:

  • What type of Nest thermostat do you have?
  • Did your utility company install a box on your HVAC system that turns the system off during high demand (peak) times to save energy?
  • When did cooling last work?
  • Which wires do you have installed in the thermsostat?
  • You're seeing a message saying "the unit will start soon" in the app. Could you send a photo of it?
  • Have you recently changed the air filter?
  • Please share with me the Nest Thermostat's power readouts (battery status, VIN, VOC, IIN). You can find this information by following these instructions:
    • Nest Thermostat: Open Google Home app > Tap Favorites or Devices > Select your thermostat > Tap Settings > Device information.
    • Nest Learning Thermostat: Open Nest app > On the home screen, select your thermosta > Tap Settings > Technical info > Power.

Keep me in the loop and feel free to share any additional details you think might be relevant.

Best regards,
Eduardo
