G Nest thermostat used in a church

Drouec55

HI, I'm trying to find out how I can setup a Google account to operate several Google/Nest thermostats for remote management via the internet and share this access to several other Google users. I already have one thermostat setup to work based on my personal google and nest accounts. Do I need to have a business Google account to do this and as this is for a church would that be free of charge as it is a not for profit organisation?

Once you invite someone and give them access to your account, they can see everything.

This is why you want to set up a separate Google account for the church. It has to be the plain google account, not the Google Suites account. Google doesn't care if the church uses a regular account.

It shouldn't matter what email address you use, so long as it is a valid one.

You can create a “google home” probably labeled as “church” and invite the other members to that “google home” and then you can most likely add as many thermostats as you want. NOT SURE if Google has a limit of thermostats you can have in a “google home”

Since this is a church setup, I recommend creating a google account just for the church, and you can invite whoever needs access to that account.

I just did this for a client, and we used the priest's google account since he is the one who is in charge of everything.

Hi Patrick and lighx,
Thanks for your replies.
I suppose my concern is about sharing other private data on the google account when allowing others to operate and manage the thermostat.
Would I be right in saying that if we setup a subsidiary ”Location” called Church on say my google account would I be able to restrict users to only having access to the subsidiary location details or is this only available on a business google account.
If we had to have a business account how do we apply for a free account (in the UK) as obviously the church is a “not for profit” organisation. I have considered setting up an account for the church and I have a specific e-mail ending in @xxxx.co.uk would that be acceptable in a basic personal Google account application. I would still use my real name as the applicant but all connection information would go to that church specific address. Thanks again guys for your replies.
