After having a nest thermostat for more than a year, our neighbors thermostat decided to heat instead of cool. This resulted in the temperature to be 98 degrees while their child was sleeping. In the morning, the child was found unresponsive with a high temperature. Is there some kind of alert that can be triggered before it gets this hot? The safety temperatures are not really adjustable. I would like to know if the heat is above 80 and we could then figure out the issue earlier.

Hey home_owner,
Thanks for posting and sorry for the delayed response.
Our Nest thermostats have Safety Temperatures can protect your home during extremely cold or hot weather. They can help ensure that your pipes won’t freeze or your home won’t overheat even if your thermostat is set to Off.
