Ever since I migrated my Nest account to Google in September I cannot change the setting on my Huawei Android phone from Away. I don’t want to use a phone to sense whether there is anyone in and it wasn’t necessary before. So now it is getting colder, we wake to an unseated house.
I have tried disconnecting the thermostat from Google but there was no remove device to tap so I had to delete Nest completely including the app and reinstall it. Nest never recognises the old password nor sends a password change email so I had to reconnect via Google. Now I have to reset my Nest Protect as well which means climbing a ladder. It seems this is not an uncommon issue which is disgraceful. Is there any way to get my Nest thermostat working as it was?
Do no evil? Google is too big now so that motto is way out of date. Their systems have got way too complex so maybe for all their talent it’s beyond them and they can’t correct it . Or they just don’t care.
I just want a warm house. Don’t buy a Nest. Has anyone solved this?
