My heat pump reversing valve will not switch to cool mode because there is no signal from my Nest 3 Learning Thermostat. Has anyone else run into this or a similar problem? Replacing the Nest thermostat with a standard thermostat resolved the problem. I also wondered if there could be a problem due to the latest software upgrade?

I am having the same problem with my system and a Nest learning thermostat. My heat pump is less than a year old and the thermostat wire was replaced about a month ago. My HVAC repairman thinks the thermostat is bad. What should I do next?

We are having the same problem - reversing valve not sending signal from the Nest...when we turn on the AC, hot air comes out. Our repair person confirmed the problem is with the Nest --- we have two units and have nothing but problems with these units not to mention the service charges everytime something goes wrong with the Nest.

I am having the same issue. Two different thermostats were connected and had no issues, but my Nest is not sending power to the reversing valve to switch from Heat to A/C.

After calling Google/Nest and asking if the latest software update could be the culprit I was told to buy a new base plate to see if that would fix the problem. I tossed the Nest thermostat in the trash and have been much more satisfied with a Honeywell T4 thermostat. In addition to the reversing valve now working properly the heat/cool cycles are more responsive. The system responds to changes in temperature requests more quickly and gently on the HVAC system vs the Nest which ran the system hard for extended periods of time.

Hello. I have had this exact issue twice. I have two units (1 for 2nd floor and 1 for 1st floor). About a 1.5 years ago, our HVAC tech said the issue is with Nest thermostat and they replaced with a new one (it was under warranty). Now, it happened again and this time with our 2nd thermostat and again it was Nest equipment issue so I had to buy a new one and replaced it and everything works again. If this happens again, I would never buy Nest thermostat (would just go with another vendor) and hope Google and Nest know about this and other consumers are aware to avoid Nest thermostat altogether.
