Heat wont come on after installing nest.

My old thermostat had a red wire and a letter r Spot the nest doesn't have R it has RC and Rh does it matter which one I put it in. Is that why my heat isn't coming on.

Thanks for reaching out to the community. I am sorry that your heat is not coming on after the installation of your Nest thermostat, but no need to worry; help is here.

We appreciate all of your previous troubleshooting efforts. I am aware that you do have a red wire attached to the Nest thermostat. I need to know a few things about your thermostat in order to provide you with a better resolution.

  • What Nest thermostat model do you have? For your reference, you can check out this article on how to tell which Nest thermostat you have.
  • Does the thermostat display show any error codes or messages?
  • What is the make and model of your HVAC equipment?
  • Where did you put the red wire on the thermostat, in the RC or RH terminal? 

I'll be waiting for your response; any additional details you can provide will be helpful.
