Heating while set to cool

I'm helping my family with some remodeling and we're working on the HVAC, currently switching out the thermostat.

We're replacing a working Honeywell Home thermostat with a Nest thermostat just to see what it's all about.

The setup went fine and I didn't notice any issues, however, we're getting HOT air when set to COOL. I've looked through a few threads and haven't noticed anything yet. Wiring diagrams aren't my strong suit, but I can manage simple swaps if needed.

Before that, I'll go over what I've done so far, and any issues I've encountered:

1) Changed O/B settings. This was the first and most common solution across most resources. I had no problem navigating there (Equipment > Equipment > Heat Pump) the first few times, but later in troubleshooting, I no longer had the option.

2) Changing to different temperatures. We tested a few lower temperatures, gave it time to adjust, switched to heat with no change--which makes sense, as the house was above target heat (currently 87F/30.5C). Switched to OFF, and the air stopped. Back to cooling, and more hot air. Slow climb from 79F to 87F through testing.

3) Resetting the Nest. I reset while keeping information. I haven't tried a factory reset yet.

4) Removing the Nest to check the wiring. I wasn't there for the original installation, but I have a picture of the wiring that I will include if I can.

5) Currently re-attaching the Honeywell to cool again.

While we set things back to normal, I'd like some advice on setup. If any more information is needed, I'll be glad to search. I'll be doing some house hunting myself next year, so I may as well re-learn what I've been shown and definitely forgot!

Post a picture of the original thermostat's wiring if you have it.
