How do I access thermostat home report from Home app

Incognito

Hey folks,

I get these monthly home reports from my nest thermostat, and I was wondering if I can access them directly from the app instead. Apparently we can, through both the nest app and the home app. When I try the nest app, I'm able to see the previous history of 10 days. But I do want a longer history and apparently that's available via the Home app. When I use the home app, I'm not able to understand how to get to the report. The instructions given by Google says to "Touch and hold your device's tile", but that just takes me to the thermostat page which shows the temperature around a circle. I don't have any link to an "Energy Dashboard" as mentioned in the instructions. What am I doing wrong ?

Thanks.

Hi Incognito,

Thanks for reaching out. Try to uninstall and reinstall the Google Home App then, touch and hold your device tile and tap Energy Dashboard to see the Energy History of your Nest Thermostat.

Let me know how it goes.

Jenelyn

Thanks for following up Jenelyn. I'm still unable to access this. Is there a video tutorial I can follow for this ?

Note that I have joined the Home app public preview as well. So I'm using the latest version of the app.

Hey there,

I wanted to follow up and see if I could be of any help. Once you open the Home app, you will want to click on the device. Once done, it should show the temperature screen. In the top right corner, you should see a leaf icon with a graph. You will want to click on that, and it will show you the energy history. Please let me know if you are still having any trouble from here, as I would be happy to take a closer look and assist you further.

Best regards,
Jake

Thanks Jake for the clear and detailed instructions, and the followup too! I've done that, but don't see the graph with the leaf at the top-right corner. I've the Nest learning thermostat. Is the energy history available only on the latest version of the thermostat ? Or is it a problem in the app ? Or do I need to enable some configuration to make this work.

Hey there,

I am glad to be of help. That is odd how you are not seeing the icon. Are you able to see the settings icon? If so, you can also click on that, and at the very bottom of the settings you should see "energy dashboard". Please let me know if you are having any trouble from here, as I would be happy to review.

Best regards,

Jake

I'm unable to see the energy dashboard after clicking the settings icon too. Is some minimum version of the Home app or Nest thermostat required here ?

Hi Incognito,

Thanks for keeping us in the loop. I'm sorry for the delay. What type of Nest Thermostat do you have? Nest Thermostat 2020 Energy History isn't available in the Google Home app. I believe this is the reason why you don't have an option for it.

I appreciate your help, Jake.
