Incorrect temperature reading

My thermostat is reading the incorrect temperature. Currently it says it is 83 degrees and is set on 70 degrees. Other thermometers in two different areas read at 66 and 68 degrees respectively.

Please tell me how I address this.

Hi Melissa1984,

Thanks for reaching out to the community! I understand that your thermostat is currently reading an incorrect temperature. It is displaying 83°—well above your 70° set point—despite your other thermostats confirming the room is actually between 66° and 68°. No worries, I’m happy to get this sorted out!

To continue investigating this, I’d like to ask for the following information:

  • What is the specific model and generation of the Nest Thermostat? Here’s a helpful article on how to identify your thermostat model.
  • When did you first notice this issue starting?
  • When was the thermostat installed?
  • Where is the thermostat located (room and wall or stand)?
  • Have you made any recent adjustments to your HVAC system?
  • Did your property experience any recent power outages or electrical surges?
  • Could you please specify the country where the thermostat is being used?

Keep me posted.

Best regards,

Jenniffer
